Services

From evaluation to follow-up. Under one roof, by one team.

Eight services — comprehensive, doctor-delivered, and built around the realities of an East Tennessee life. Every appointment is conducted by a Doctor of Audiology, not a technician or salesperson.

No. 01

Comprehensive Hearing Evaluation

A full diagnostic workup — air and bone conduction, speech discrimination, tympanometry, and a clear conversation about what we hear together.

Most appointments start here. The evaluation is unhurried and adult-paced — we'd rather take the extra fifteen minutes than send you home with a number on a sheet of paper and no context.

You leave with a copy of your audiogram, an explanation that makes sense, and — only if it's warranted — a discussion of next steps. There is no upsell at the end of an evaluation.

No. 02

Hearing Aid Selection & Fitting

Independent brand choice. Real-ear verification. A lifestyle conversation before we ever talk model numbers.

Because we're not tied to any one manufacturer, the conversation starts with your day — the church pew, the grandchildren's soccer field, the small restaurant, the truck cab — and finishes with the device that genuinely fits that day.

Fittings include real-ear measurement so the device performs the way the prescription intends. Most chain stores skip this step. We do not.

No. 03

Tinnitus Evaluation & Management

Ringing, buzzing, or hissing that won't leave. We measure it, explain it, and build a plan.

Tinnitus is rarely a stand-alone problem — and it's almost never "in your head." We use standardized tinnitus measurement protocols, screen for related hearing loss, and discuss management options that range from sound therapy to amplified relief devices.

No. 04

Earwax (Cerumen) Management

Safe, professional removal of impacted earwax — a common, easily-treated cause of muffled hearing.

Sometimes "hearing loss" is simply a blocked ear canal. We examine, identify, and safely manage cerumen so we're treating the real cause — not guessing. It's also a routine part of keeping hearing aids working their best.

No. 05

Custom Earmolds & Listening Devices

Musician monitors, swim plugs, custom Bluetooth fittings, and hearing protection.

Anything that needs to fit your ear specifically — we take the impression in-office and order through the appropriate lab. Two-week turnaround is typical.

No. 06

Hearing Protection

Hunting, racing, manufacturing, music — protection built for the noise you're actually around.

Custom-fit protection that lasts years and works far better than foam plugs from the hardware store. Different attenuation profiles for different uses — a hunter doesn't need what a percussionist needs.

No. 07

Pediatric Audiology

Hearing screenings and hearing aid care for children. Dr. McDermott leads our family fittings.

We work with families on early identification, age-appropriate testing, and hearing aid management for school-age children. The same warmth we give every adult patient — with smaller chairs.

No. 08

Hearing Aid Repair & Service

Most hearing aids serviced same-day. Loaner devices available for longer repairs.

Whether the device is one we fit or one you brought from elsewhere, we'll take a look. Same-day cleanings and minor repairs whenever possible — and a loaner if a manufacturer return is needed.

The fitting

The device is chosen last — on purpose.

We talk through your week before we ever open a hearing aid case: the church pew, the grandchildren's soccer field, the small restaurant, the truck cab. The right device is the one that fits that life — and we have every major brand to choose from.

Not sure which service you need?

Most patients start with a comprehensive hearing evaluation — and we go from there together.
